ARLISS is an international collaborative experiment that began in 1999 and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Over the past quarter-century, many participants have gained valuable experience through ARLISS, and today, they are actively contributing to various cutting-edge fields, including space development.

The significance of ARLISS lies in providing a valuable hands-on opportunity for developing the next generation of talent and fostering technological innovation. Participants not only gain engineering skills but also develop flexible abilities required in other fields, such as systems engineering and project management. Additionally, conducting experiments in the vast, unfamiliar deserts of the United States enhances their problem-solving and risk management skills. Through this experience, participants systematically engage in space development projects and grow into professionals who can contribute effectively in the field.

However, participating in ARLISS involves significant costs, posing a financial burden on participants. In addition to the rocket launch fees, travel expenses such as airfare and accommodation in the United States amount to several hundred thousand yen per person. As a result, the high financial barrier makes it difficult for students to participate in ARLISS.
